Paneer Pakora - Cheese Fritters Recipe

- Fresh paneer / cottage cheese - 200 gm
- Besan / Gram flour - 1 cup
- Red chili powder - ½ tsp
- Cumin seeds - ½ tsp
- Asafoetida - a pinch
- Salt to taste.
- Water - for making batter
- Cooking Oil - for deep frying
- Chaat masala - to sprinkle (optional)
- Cut fresh paneer or cottage cheese into slices. Keep aside.
- In a mixing bowl take 1 cup gram flour.
- Add ½ tsp red chili powder, ½ tsp cumin seeds, a pinch of asafoetida and salt to taste.
- Mix well and make a smooth batter using water.
- In a pan heat oil to deep fry paneer pakoda.
- Dip a slice of paneer into the besan/ gramflour batter and add to hot oil and deep fry.
- Similarly continue with other paneer slices.
- Fry till fritters turn golden brown.
- Remove on tissue paper to drain out excess oil.
- Sprinkle chaat masala and serve hot with tea.
