Paneer Pakora - Cheese Fritters Recipe

Ingredients
  • Fresh paneer / cottage cheese - 200 gm
  • Besan / Gram flour - 1 cup
  • Red chili powder - ½ tsp
  • Cumin seeds - ½ tsp
  • Asafoetida - a pinch
  • Salt to taste.
  • Water - for making batter
  • Cooking Oil - for deep frying
  • Chaat masala - to sprinkle (optional)
Instructions
  1. Cut fresh paneer or cottage cheese into slices. Keep aside.
  2. In a mixing bowl take 1 cup gram flour.
  3. Add ½ tsp red chili powder, ½ tsp cumin seeds, a pinch of asafoetida and salt to taste.
  4. Mix well and make a smooth batter using water.
  5. In a pan heat oil to deep fry paneer pakoda.
  6. Dip a slice of paneer into the besan/ gramflour batter and add to hot oil and deep fry.
  7. Similarly continue with other paneer slices.
  8. Fry till fritters turn golden brown.
  9. Remove on tissue paper to drain out excess oil.
  10. Sprinkle chaat masala and serve hot with tea.
